We welcome children
It’s a real children’s paradise here. I’ve rarely seen any child looking bored.
A safe place
We’ve done everything we can to ensure a calm and safe environment for you and your family. The campsite is at the end of a side road that doesn’t have any passing traffic.
It’s a family-sized site, there’s always someone who’s keeping an eye on the kids.
Some of the things children can do
There’s so much for children to do, they’re spoilt for choice between the playground and the mini golf, between the paddling pool and the tennis wall, between the swimming pool and the tennis court and the volleyball pitch!
Onsite activities are free and we will lend you any equipment that you need.
This last year the outdoor trampoline was a great success and a games room and a billiards room - available in case of bad weather - make ideal occasions for a match against mum and dad.
Out and about on site
The property is very large
.
It’s easy to put on your great explorer’s gear and go off for an adventure in the woods, or to play hide and seek, or to go and build wooden cabins.
A small beach on the edge of the river is available, and when it’s too hot even to go to the pool this is ideal for the children to play water games, build dams or make sandcastles.
Finding out about nature is also an important part of a child’s playtime : catching lizards, watching and feeding the birds, playing with enormous black beetles.
Finding out about the countryside can give children another view of the world around them : going to feed the ponies, giving stale bread to the horses and geese, watching the beautiful honey-coloured Limousine cows grazing in the meadows with their young calves.
Making friends
The campsite is a wonderful place to make new friends.
Sometimes the children are so involved with their new-found playmates that they can easily forget to get home in time for supper.
Quite often parents tell me that they never know how many to cook for as there’s often an extra friend or two around the table at mealtimes.
Children’s activities
During high and very high season :
Onsite activities :
Every day we hold a mini kids’ club, there are quiet games and craft activities too, and once a week we organise a specific Nature trip: a walk, nest building etc .
Every afternoon we propose outdoor activities, such as ball games or racket games.
Offsite activities
Numerous places in the area offer specific children’s activies : museum visits, the zoo, visiting castles etc.
The locality is very child-friendly: special protected cycle routes, beaches on inland lakes and reservoirs etc .
Organised children’s activities are available during July and August:
Active Summer – ‘L’Eté Actif’: the department of The Charente offers numerous and varied activities every week at very reasonable prices, ranging from canoeing and kayaking, chess, fencing, rock climbing, caving, tree walks, cookery lessons, bread-making, roller-blading, tennis etc.
Summertime at Chambon - ‘Les Estivales du Chambon’ : The Tourist Office along with the open-air centre at Chambon offer many outdoor organised activities. You can find a list of all these activities at reception – we can give you a copy as soon as you arrive.
A place to share with all the family
Spending quality time with mum or dad, playing a game of ping-pong or tennis, playing a board game, canoeing down the river, catching your first fish…as well, going to fetch the morning’s bread, still warm from the bread oven all on your own, or going to do the washing up for the first time. Beating dad at pool or chess, or dancing with mum at the music evening.
These are all unforgettable holiday experiences.
